Cookie Policy.

Last updated: 2 September 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how JOIN Engineering & Consulting (“JOIN”, “we”, “us”) uses cookies and similar technologies on this website, what they are used for and how you can control them. It complements our Privacy Policy and applies to visitors from Portugal and from any other country, in line with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the ePrivacy Directive as implemented in Portuguese law.

1. What are cookies

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They allow the website to function correctly, to remember your preferences and, where you agree, to measure how the website is used. We also use similar technologies such as local storage and pixels; in this policy, all of them are referred to as “cookies”.

2. Types of cookies we use

  • Strictly necessary cookies — required for the website to work: security, load balancing, form submission and remembering your cookie choices. These do not require consent and cannot be switched off.
  • Functional cookies — remember preferences such as language or previously entered form information, to improve your experience.
  • Analytics cookies — help us understand how visitors use the website (pages visited, time on page, navigation paths) so we can improve content and structure. Data is used in aggregated form.
  • Third-party and embedded content cookies — set when content from other services is displayed or accessed, for example an embedded map on our contact page or a link to our LinkedIn profile.

We do not use cookies for advertising or for cross-site behavioural profiling.

3. Cookies used on this website

  • join_cookie_consent — strictly necessary. Stores your cookie preferences. Retention: 12 months. Set by JOIN.
  • join_session — strictly necessary. Maintains session integrity and form security. Retention: session. Set by JOIN.
  • _ga / _ga_* — analytics. Distinguishes visitors and sessions to produce aggregated usage statistics. Retention: up to 14 months. Set by Google Analytics (only if you accept analytics cookies).
  • Google Maps cookies — third-party. Set when the embedded map on our contact page is loaded, to deliver and secure the map service. Retention: as defined by Google.

The specific cookies present may vary slightly over time as the website evolves. This list is reviewed whenever the website changes.

5. How to manage your choices

You can change your cookie preferences at any time using the cookie settings link available on the website, or by deleting cookies in your browser. Most browsers also allow you to block cookies entirely or to be notified before a cookie is stored. Please note that blocking strictly necessary cookies may affect the correct functioning of parts of the website, such as our contact and application forms.

Instructions for the most common browsers are available in their own help pages (Chrome, Safari, Edge, Firefox).

6. International transfers

Some cookie providers, such as analytics and map services, may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where that happens, transfers are made under European Commission adequacy decisions, Standard Contractual Clauses or other safeguards permitted by the GDPR, as described in our Privacy Policy.

7. Personal data and your rights

Information collected through cookies may constitute personal data. Its processing, retention periods and your rights — access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, portability and withdrawal of consent — are described in our Privacy Policy. You may also lodge a complaint with the CNPD (www.cnpd.pt) or with the supervisory authority of your country of residence in the EU.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy to reflect changes in the technologies we use or in applicable law. The version published on this page, with its date, is the one in force.
